Adolescents & Young Adults
With over 10 years experience working with college students, Dr. Meek has assisted adolescent and young adult clients with issues and concerns related to adjustment, decision making, sexuality, relationships, academics, and life planning.
Dr. Meek has assisted adult individual clients with a wide range of issues and presenting symptoms including depressed mood, anxiety, stress, employment problems, grief and loss, family and relationship issues, and sexuality concerns.
Dr. Meek has assisted couples with issues related to communication, infidelity, sexuality, and other relational stressors. His experience includes work with same sex couples to address the unique needs and social implications that these couples often face.
Trained as a family counselor, Dr. Meek has worked with families to improve relationships and overall family functioning through the enhancement of family structures, communication, relational processes, appropriate boundaries, and parenting. In addition, Dr. Meek has collaborated with school personnel to assist families with children and adolescents who are having behavioral and/or academic problems.
Lesbian, Gay, & Bisexual
A particular area of specialization for Dr. Meek is working with individuals, whose sexual attractions are not exclusively heterosexual. This area of interest and experience also extends to same sex couples and family systems in which a member or members may identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or may be questioning their sexual orientation. Dr. Meek has conducted research regarding the experiences of families of gay youth.
Dr. Meek in no way practices or endorses reparative, conversion, or any other type of therapeutic approach which seeks to change or modify one's sexual orientation or identity.
Dr. Meek has experience and expertise working with clients who may be questioning or struggling with their gender identity or related gender issues and the variety of personal, familial, institutional, and social issues these individuals may encounter.
